The Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) is a non-governmental, voluntary, independent organization established in March 2015, officially registered at the Ministry of Social Affairs as per license (99). SDF has been present in Yemen since 2015, it has experience implementing emergency child protection and education responses, including women and youth empowerment. SDF has experience in handling large grants from international donors, such as UNDP, UNHCR, WFP, OCHA, WHO, SCI and ZOA. SDF has excellent national-level relations and has experience in coordinating with both national and international NGOs. It has offices, staff and community-based committees in Hajjah, Sana'a, Marib, Ibb, Hudidah, Dhamar, Almahweet, Al-Bayda’a, and Hadramout as well as solid experiences engaging with local communities from whom it gained acceptance and with whom it has collaborated in the past. In addition to that, SDF creates livelihood opportunities and community-based protection.

Job Purpose:

Provide legal support to persons in need, by implementing legal assistance program in accordance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures, standards and policies, with the aim of providing quality, timely and effective legal responses to the needs of populations of concern.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Legal Advisor also handle all legal responsibilities, including appearing in courts to assist organizations as Advocates.
  2. Assist undertake all relevant legal counseling sessions in the project and where relevant ensure adequate referral and follow-up.
  3. Assist in providing legal counseling sessions.
  4. Keep soft and hard records of each individual legal counseling/referral/follow up.
  5. Verifying of legal cases and their documentation and provide legal services to beneficiaries.
  6. Provide the legal assistance to services seekers and refer to service providers.
  7. Organize legal awareness sessions.
  8. Contribute to the overall legal monthly report – in coordination with the protection officer.
  9. Any other tasks assigned by the project director.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Bachelor degree in Law, or any related Field.
  2. Two Years Experience in working on similar tasks and duties.
  3.  Computer skills in MS Office programs.
  4.  Flexible with working hours and conditions.
  5.  Good organizational skills, attention to detail and reporting in a timely manner.
  6.  Excellent verbal/written communication and relationship building skills.
  7.  Team player, presentable, dynamic and customer oriented.
  8.  Ability to work independently and proactively.
  9.  Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  10.  Commitment to and understanding of SDF’s aims, values and principles.
